Intramural Officials

If you like sports and need a little extra cash, become an Intramural Official.  By accepting the position of intramural official, you have committed to one of the toughest, yet most rewarding positions on campus.  This position is one of the most vital to the success of the intramural program.  As an official, you will have the most contact with the participants in the activities and events that we offer.  Officiating offers a number of rewards to those dedicated individuals:  staying involved in sports, meeting new people, developing new skills, and maintaining physical condition.

Officials learn many skills while working for Intramurals.  Among these skills are:  leadership, decisionmaking, conflict-resolution, time management, communication, teamwork, character and confidence.  Your officiating experience can also lead to increased roles in competitions at off-campus locations.  Regional and National tournaments in Intramural sports frequently recruit good officials in various sports.  This experience may also be helpful in acquiring work off-campus at city recreational leagues.

Prior to each of our seasons, rules and mechanics clinics will be conducted for all officials.  No experience is required.  We are willing to train those who are willing to learn!  The clinics are necessary to provide a comprehensive review of the rules and mechanics for that particular sport.  Clinics may be run by our staff or by certified high school and college officials.
