Inside the Hett
“Sophisticated, remarkable, unbelievable, spectacular… These are just a few of the words I’ve heard people use when describing the Russel E. and Fern M. Hettenhausen Center for the Arts,” said McKendree President James M. Dennis.
Fern M. Hettenhausen, lead donor for the facility, honorary Doctor of Humane Letters and honorary member of the McKendree Board of Trustees said, “The leadership at McKendree has gone beyond my greatest expectations in the design and construction of this magnificent and timeless building. I look forward to enjoying many performances at the Hett!”
The “magnificent” building houses McKendree music and theater classes, practices and faculty offices. The Hett includes a spacious student lounge, an orchestra pit, a scene shop with set storage, a comfortable green room with closed circuit television for stage cues, costume storage, a coat room, box office and a furnished lobby with gallery space. The following pages will provide an inside tour of the Hett, through the staff and students who call the building home.
