My name is Craig Robertson, and I am the Director of Campus Activities at McKendree. I am very excited that you have made McKendree your choice for education. An exciting beginning to the semester is New Student Orientation, a fun-filled event featuring educational programs and social activities designed to introduce you to McKendree, and to life as a college student.
You may be curious as to why you should attend Orientation, in addition to the McKendree 101 sessions that you may have attended in the spring or summer. New Student Orientation picks up right where McKendree 101 left off, and provides a more in depth introduction to the University.
During New Student Orientation, you will get an opportunity to meet your new classmates, faculty and staff as you attend the University 101 mentoring sessions. Some sessions will include: test taking and study skills, how and why you should get involved on campus, how to eat right and stay healthy, plus a number of other informative sessions. Your hosts during New Student Orientation will be upper-class students who will serve as your small group leaders. All of the events planned afford you an excellent opportunity to meet your classmates and see what McKendree offers.
New Student Orientation 2008 (NSO) officially begins in August (start date TBD) at NSO check-in, and runs for a total of 4 days. Please note that all aspects of New Student Orientation are required.
A general schedule of events will be available here online during the summer. A more detailed schedule with full event descriptions and locations will be given to you when you arrive in August. Please contact the Office of Campus Activities if you have any questions. You can call our office at: (618) 537-6856, or contact me by email at croberts@mckendree.edu. I look forward to meeting you and your family at New Student Orientation. We have a great program planned for you and cannot wait for your arrival!
Sincerely,
Craig Robertson
