Dr. Seuss Day
Description: The purpose of this event is to encourage students to read and to celebrate an amazing children’s book author! Normally, the event lasts an hour from 2:00-3:00 P.M. at Lebanon Grade School. Classes from pre-K through 5th grade participate. Students read a Dr. Seuss book and do a craft that ties in with the book. Then, if time permits, the McKendree students read more Dr. Seuss books to the grade school students.
When: Dr. Seuss Day is normally on March 2nd at Lebanon Grade School.
Why would I want to do that? "I love seeing how excited the grade school students respond to the Dr. Seuss books. I also love seeing how the volunteers react to rereading a book they used to read as children. I also love how it teaches children that reading can be fun and that cool activities can go along with books. Books aren’t boring!" ~Krista Waltermire
Anything else I need to know? Volunteers need to wear kid-appropriate clothing.
