McKendree University Teacher Education Portfolio:

What is the McKendree University Teacher Education Portfolio?

The McKendree University Teacher Education Portfolio is a place for students to put all of their artifacts and Illinois Professional Teaching Standards (IPTS) requirements.  When students are student teaching, they will also be placing their evidence of student teaching into this same portfolio.  This is considered their working growth portfolio.  Students should enter all their artifacts and IPTS requirements here, or link to other work already within LiveText so they have a completed portfolio to be assessed at the conclusion of student teaching.

Why should I use the McKendree University Teacher Education Portfolio?

The McKendree University Teacher Education Portfolio (MCK TEP) template has been designed so that all of your IPTS, and Student Teaching requirements are in one place.  In order to exit from student teaching, you must show that all of these items are in your portfolio.  If you have placed your IPTS assignments in projects or lesson plans within LiveText, you may choose to make links within LiveText to show the items are completed. Please NOTE that you create the McKendree Portfolio just ONCE. You should not create it each time you are assigned to do one of its sections. You just have to go back to your same McKendree Portfolio every time, and do the required section.

Important note for Student Teachers and University Supervisors:

For those students who have posted items in their portfolio prior to Student Teaching, students and university supervisors must realize that the items may have been posted but they may NOT have been assessed.  The University supervisor must approve any item that has been placed in the student teaching portions of the McKendree University Teacher Education Portfolio.  All items placed in the Portfolio must clearly demonstrate how the evidence meets the standards, and the explanation of how the evidence meets the standard must be VERY CLEAR.  Three artifacts are required for each standard addressed in the portfolio.  If the university supervisor deems it necessary, they have the authority to request that their student teachers find other evidence that is more clear and concise.
