Reviews and Assessments:
How do I alphabetize items in my LiveText reviews so it is easier to grade and/or post grades?
When you are in reviews, simply click on the column title "FROM" (at the top of the document listing), and all items in that label will be alphabetized by last name.
How can I delete items that have been sent to me for review?
Because you are not the author of the documents sent for review, you cannot delete them. The best thing to do is to make a folder called TRASH, and place all unwanted items in there. Follow the directions for making files below.
How do I file the items that have been sent to me for review?
Before you choose to file any items from the “Reviews”, you need to have appropriate labels to hold the filed items. To create labels, click on the edit labels link on the left side of your screen. Click on create, click on label, and title your label. You can also enter an optional description. Click [Save].
If you have labels created and would like to file specific review items into those labels, check the review items by clicking the check box to the left of the item. Then click the [Apply Label] button and click on the destination label. You will get a confirmation that the item has been filed in the label specified.
How do I create a new label (folder) like "trashcan" or "old stuff" to hold old items and reviews?
1. Log on to LT
2 On the left hand side click on "edit labels"
- Click on create
- Click on label
- Put a title for your label like "trashcan" or "Junque" or "old stuff"
- Click on save
- Now go to the location where the unwanted document is, like My Work or Inbox.
- Click on the box in front of the item you want to put in the label.
- Click the button [Apply Label] and select the label of the folder you created from the drop-down list.
- You will get the message “Successfully moved x items”.
What is the plus sign in front of some of the reviews that I have received from my students?
The plus sign indicates multiple reviews on the same document. The multiple reviews come up for a number of different reasons:
1. The student submitted the same document multiple times, or
2. You have reviewed and/or assessed that document multiple times
If you click on the plus sign, all different copies of that review document are displayed. You can "view" your reviews/assessments for each document copy by clicking the corresponding link.
I have already assessed a student's document in LiveText. But now it is showing up as not reviewed. What is the problem?
There may be multiple reasons for this occurrence:
1. Your student may have re-shared the document with you after having made some changes. This causes a new review to appear in your Reviews folder. Also note this entry will have a plus sign to its left. Review the document if they were supposed to post a new item and share the document with you. Otherwise, click on the plus sign and the reviews below will show your completed assessment. You can "view" it to make sure it's the right one.
2. You may have clicked the review again link. This initiates a new review and a plus sign appears to its left. Click on the plus sign and the reviews below will show your completed assessment. You can "view" it to make sure it's the right one.
Why doesn't my Assessment window show up? OR Tips on disabling the pop-up blocker on your computer:
The Assessment window does not show up because you probably have a pop-up blocker software running on your computer. This prevents the window from displaying correctly. There are two ways of solving this problem:
1. You can temporarily override the pop-up blocker software so that you can proceed with your assessments. Holding down the CTRL key on your keyboard, click on the link to pull up the assessment ("assess" or the rubric link). You may have to click the link 2-3 times before you can get the window.
2. You can permanently disable the pop-up blocker for just LiveText web-pages. Click on the pop-up blocker icon on your web browser, and look for an option like "always allow pop-ups from…". Select the LiveText website from the list and click the corresponding button, like "add" or "allow".
My Students' Documents:
How can I view attachments?
You can view attachments in LiveText just as you do with a simple email program.
- Go to your Reviews page and locate your student's document under "Review: Inbox"
- Click the name of the document. This will open the student’s document.
- Go to the corresponding page or section in the document where the attachment is posted.
- The attachment appears as a "clickable" link (blue text) under that section. For example, SpreadsheetProject.xls. Click the attachment link.
- A dialog box prompts you to open or save the attachment Open the attachment. You may also choose to save it to an appropriate location on your computer.
- You should now be able to view the contents of the attachment. If you are having problems viewing the attachment, it may be for a number of reasons:
- You do not have the software on your machine required to view the attachment.
- The attachment was created using a different version of the software.
- The attachment may be of a very large size. If this is the case, you will have to wait for a very long time for the attachment to download.
Organizing My Account:
Is there a way I can file all assessment rubrics shared with me under a single folder or label?
Yes, you can! Create a smart label titled "Assessments" to reduce your effort when grading with rubrics. The label will group all assessment rubrics shared with you, and thus, you do not have to look up the inbox each time you want to find a rubric for grading. This will be the label displayed by default when you open the assessment window for grading. To create the smart label:
- Click Edit labels... link under the heading "Materials" in the left column.
- Click [Create] button and select the Smart Label option.
- Title it "Assessments" in exactly this spelling and letter case, and enter an optional description if you want.
- Match "all" conditions.
- Select the drop-down menus on the second line such that they display: Document Type is Assessment.
- Hit [Save] under Description box.
