The 2010 Midwest Percussion Camp will no longer be taking place at McKendree University due to low enrollment. Our guest artists are currently being scheduled to work with area drumlines. Thank you for your interest and have a great summer!


Guest Artists

 

Bret Kuhn

Bret graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Northeast Missouri State University where he studied percussion under the direction of Dan Petersen. He was a member of the Disney World All-American Band in 1980 and marched with the Cavalier Drum and Bugle Corps in 1981. In 1984, Bret began teaching the Cavalier Drum and Bugle Corps serving as both the Percussion Caption Head as well as the Percussion Arranger. During this time, the Cavaliers won six World Championships and five High  Percussion Awards. In 2005, after retiring from the Cavalier's, Bret joined the Bluecoat Drum and Bugle Corps and is in his third year as a Design and  Percussion Consultant with them. Bret has written articles for publication in Percussive Notes Magazine and is currently on the PAS Board of Directors. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). Serving as a clinician for Yamaha, Innovative Percussion, Zildjian and Remo, he has had the opportunity of traveling extensively presenting clinics across the United States, Japan and Europe. He is a freelance drum-set artist in the Chicagoland area and has performed with Rich Matteson, Bobby Shew, Gloria Estefan and Nexus.

 

Peter Alan Hussey

Peter is a music/percussion educator and performer in the St. Louis area and is currently a tenured assistant professor of music/percussion studies at Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey, IL.  Prior to this appointment he held positions on the music faculty of McKendree University in Lebanon, IL and Eastern Illinois University where he received his BM and MA in Percussion Performance. Peter is trained as a REMO-HealthRHYTHMS facilitator.  He is also on staff with the Alton, Illinois school system as a percussion specialist and serves as an adjudicator, clinician and arranger of marching, concert, jazz and world percussion throughout the country.  Performance credits include Grammy Award Winners - Aretha Franklin, Peter Cetera, Arnie Roth and Maria Schneider, Bob Newhart, the Ballet Orchestra of St. Louis, the Illinois Symphony, the Danville Symphony, the Alton Symphony, the St. Louis Philharmonic, Percussionist & Composer Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic, the Louis Michael Jazz Ensemble, the St. Louis Brass Band, and The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps.  Peter is an educational endorser for the Zildjian Cymbal Company and for Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets.
